WASHINGTON, D.C.—June —, 2015—The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, the business voice of the LGBT community, is elated by the Supreme Court’s ruling today for marriage equality across America; it is a momentous win for freedom, equality, and inclusion.   The justices have affirmed what a bipartisan majority of Americans have come to understand: the freedom to marry is a  constitutional right that is guaranteed to all Americans.

NGLCC’s Makes History with 3rd LGBT Summit of the Americas

Two weeks ago, NGLCC’s 3rd LGBT Summit of the Americas made history in Lima, Peru. Following the inaugural LGBT Summit of the Americas in Colombia in 2012 and last year’s summit in Mexico, NGLCC was pleased to bring the third rendition of the series to Peru’s capital city. The event not only provided an unparalleled opportunity to assemble LGBT business leaders and corporate diversity professionals from across the Americas, but also served as the public launch of NGLCC’s newest international affiliate chamber, the Peruvian GLBT Chamber of Commerce (CCGLPE).

NGLCC Signs Historic Marriage Equality Amicus Brief

On March 5, a friend-of-the-court brief was filed urging the Supreme Court to support marriage equality. NGLCC is proud to once again join over 300 other businesses and local chambers in arguing for the economic benefits for marriage equality. The brief contends that, "the burden imposed by inconsistent and discriminatory state laws of having to administer complicated schemes to account for differential treatment of similarly situated employers breeds unnecessary confusion, tension, and diminished employer morale."
