Once again Bogotá became the epicenter of diverse businesses with the 2019 edition of WETRADE, which took place from October 31 to November 1. This annual conference and tradeshow brought together local and international corporate sector representatives; international LGBT chamber leaders and allies; and diversity and inclusion experts for a two-day event hosted by la Cámara de Comerciantes LGBT de Colombia (CCLGBTco). The 2018 edition of WETRADE generated more than 500 business partnerships among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and the international private sector. This year’s forum highlighted the chamber’s “Friendly Biz” initiative which certifies international corporations based in Colombia as LGBT friendly businesses actively promoting D&I practices.

According to Felipe Cárdenas, president of the CCLGBTco, WETRADE has become the academic and business epicenter covering sessions on D&I, inclusive economic growth, and economic empowerment of LGBT SMEs in an effort to understand the potential of a diverse and inclusive economy.

The 2019 edition of WETRADE had the support of national and international corporations such as United Airlines, IBM, Air Canada, Airbnb, Hilton, Emporio Armani, Colpatria, Banco de Bogotá, the GHL Group, Theatron, AR Radisson and Aeroméxico among others as well as international entities such as NGLCC, the Curacao Office of Tourism, the Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB, and the District Secretariat of Planning for the City of Bogotá.
