Our 2020 International Business & Leadership Conference will take us to Las Vegas, NV and the beautiful Bellagio Resort! This globally recognized conference is the largest LGBT business event on the planet. The NGLCC Conference delivers innovative leadership programming as well as networking and engagement opportunities for more than 1,400 LGBT and allied business leaders. Cutting-edge educational programs include inspiring keynote speakers, the annual B2B Boot Camp for certified LGBT Business Enterprises (LGBTBEs), a local chamber development track, Marketplace Expo, one-on-one Matchmaker meetings between suppliers and Fortune 500 companies, and much more.

The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) International Business & Leadership Conference fosters a learning environment that promotes reflection and peer exchange for LGBT-owned and -operated businesses, corporate supplier diversity and procurement professionals, domestic and Global affiliate chamber leaders, as well as government and NGO representatives. NGLCC is seeking session proposals that create genuine conversations among attendees, and engage presenters’ subject-matter expertise.

Supplier Track: Building Your Personal Brand-Increasing Your Business Value
The role of the LGBTQ owned and certified business is changing. In our trying political times the LGBTQ business owner needs to have their voice at the table economically. Personal branding is a key component to creating a unified message about what you stand for personally, and what your business stands for. The bottom line is people buy from other people. This session will show you how to define your personal brand and leverage it for business growth and development. Being an LGBTQ business owner is an incredible asset when approached properly, this session will share with you how to do exactly that.

General Track: Tackling Unconscious Bias in Your Workplace               
In today’s competitive business environment, you need every advantage you can get, and that includes making sure your own unconscious biases aren’t getting in your way of success. In this session we’ll explore three areas that could be impacted by your (or others’) unconscious biases. Whether you’re a business owner, ERG or Chamber leader, head of your organization’s procurement function, or someone who hires talent and vendors, understanding your personal unconscious biases is the first step. Participants will also explore potential unconscious bias “pitfalls” they can avoid in their business, especially as it relates to hiring talent, working within the supply chain, and overall leadership effectiveness.

Supplier Track: Accessing, Extending and Collecting Money                            
“Credit Application to Court,” walks the audience through the Credit Value Chain and provides a primer on how to properly open an account to minimize defaults and how to handle defaults in the event that occurs, including navigating the bankruptcy and litigation process. Specifically, the program discusses credit policies and credit application terms, including personal guaranties, educates your members about what they can expect when an account is placed with a collection agency or attorney for litigation, and discusses the options available should a customer file bankruptcy. If you are seeking outside funding, recruiting key personnel, or just want to increase your chances of success and sustainability, a business plan or a strategic plan is crucial.
The research and thought process you use to prepare your plan requires you to look at your business from all angles. Often times, your ideas and plans will be challenged by your own findings and newfound conclusions. A business plan explains, in black and white, your venture’s feasibility and reflects your management and leadership capabilities. Whether yours is a new business or an established business in expansion mode, you and your team need a clear understanding of your company’s financials, customer base, competition, operations, and future plans.

Supplier Track: Online Privacy in A World That Still Discriminates Against LGBTQ People

Corporate Track: Landing Your I&D Efforts – Not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ Approach                                                                                                    
Today’s businesses are complex, made up of many distinct functions and sub-cultures.  But even with this reality, many companies approach their D&I efforts and activities with a singular, ‘one-size-fits’ all lens.  In this session we will explore how differentiated, dare we say diverse, strategies and tactics within our own organizations can be key to creating breakthroughs.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the airline industry – think about the varied cultures that exist for teams in the cockpit and cabin, at the gate and those working on the ground.
A panel of Captains, Cabin Crew, Gate Agents and Mechanics from American Airlines will share their stories – authentic and candid – about the varied cultures they work in and how each of their areas is at a different place on their LGBTIA+ inclusion journey.  inQUEST’s CEO, Scott Hoesman, will moderate this discussion and help the audience identify practical and pragmatic tips they can use back in their own organizations to enhance the strategies and tactics they deploy, not only to be more effective internally, but also externally with customers and those you serve.

Global and Corporate Track: Progressing LGBT Inclusion Globally - Practical Steps and Organizational Collaboration
This session will overview best practice models for inclusion around the world, as denoted by the Partnership for Global LGBTI Equality, an effort focused on LGBTI social and economic inclusion in collaboration with the World Economic Forum (WEF) and new research released by The Partnership.      
The Partnership effort was officially announced in January 2019 at Davos by the 7 founding companies (EY, Microsoft, Mastercard, Accenture, Omnicom, Salesforce, and Deutsche Bank). It focuses on helping companies activate their implementation of the United Nations standards of business conduct around LGBTI inclusion. Partnerships between global companies and civil society has proven to be a key in making real progress in some of the most difficult locales in which business operates, as companies take actions for inclusion where governments cannot or will not. The NYU research report provides case studies garnered from in depth interviews with LGBTI people around the globe on the practices and policies which have most impacted their safety, sense of belonging and career development.
Speakers will discuss the current status of the Partnership in depth, and expand on the role of businesses and leaders in leveraging the power within our workforces to foster even more consistent global LGBTI inclusion, and compare to the knowledge garnered from the groundbreaking NYU research.

The transgender tipping point has arrived and past. As trans people are out, proud, and gain acceptance from family, friends and colleagues, they no longer vanish from the workplace when they transition. Instead, they stay and expect integration, support, and protection. But they face great fear and anxiety when coming out at work. HR professionals are ill prepared for this eventuality that’s becoming more common. This session presents a comprehensive integration model of corporate values, policies and procedures designed to guide a company toward inclusion. Join us as we explore the transgender experience and how we can create a more welcoming workplace for these valuable and creative contributors to workplace diversity.

Global Track: International Insights: Engaging Business Owners from the NGLCC Network
NGLCC Global, the international division of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce, is a diverse network comprised of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) Chambers of Commerce and Business Networks spanning Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, South Africa, and India. Attend this session to hear from business owners throughout the NGLCC Global network, particularly the role that LGBTI Chambers of Commerce play in their country, the challenges and opportunities for LGBTI business owners, and the role that corporate partners can play to promote their economic empowerment and inclusion into the supply chain.

The Financial Services Roundtable for Supplier Diversity (FSRSD) is a 501(c)(6) organization and industry group comprised of regional, national and global financial services companies with a formalized supplier diversity initiative. If you’ve ever wondered what it would take to become a supplier to one of the nation’s premier financial institutions, join us for our session! We will introduce our organization, You will learn about what we have accomplished in furthering the conversation around supplier diversity, how we have impacted the communities that we serve, and what we have planned for the future as we present on our annual report and our recent economic impact study. General Track: Lights! Camera! Access! The Authentic Intersectional Disability Narrative Imperative                                                                                                 
Advertising and media has the power to shatter myths or reinforce stereotypes. Our Lights! Camera! Access! Collaborative is grateful to NGLCC for its participation in our 2015 Think Tank, and partnering on our 5-year DOL grant, ADD US IN to increase employment of people with disabilities from historically-excluded communities.  We are building on that model to now focus on media, advertising and content across delivery platforms. For LGBTQA youth with disabilities, career exploration presents additional headwinds.  LCA Career Exploration Summits create media opportunities for LGBTQA youth with disabilities to own the narrative with authentic images and messaging. That can transcend to advertising to build brand loyalty with this $490 billion market – that is more than the coveted teen market.

Supplier Track: Beginner/Advanced Government Contracting: Maximizing Your Chances
Our session on government contracting, led by Aditi Dussault of GovContractPros and featuring Melissa Poli of Northrop Grumman and Patricia McHugh from Lockheed Martinwill, explore the best tactics for tracking and keeping opportunities with the federal government. Supplier Track: Selling Supplier Diversity from Both Sides of the P&L    
Supplier Diversity is a business initiative that allows business to thrive while utilizing the benefits of a diverse supply chain. However, it’s not always treated as such and that results in dollars left on the table.  Join us for this two-part session.  
First, we’ll look at the business side of Supplier Diversity and provide insights into the main characters of a successful supplier diversity program: C-Suite, supply chain, supplier diversity, and diverse- business owner. Learn where there may be a blind spot and what you can do to overcome it for success in the role that you play.
Second, we’ll look at how you can use Supplier Diversity to build your own diverse supply chain.  We’ll teach you about the people and processes required, how to identify current and future diverse diverse-owned businesses and the metrics you need to track and report on your efforts.

General Track: Top Ten Best Practices for Small to Medium size Businesses: How to Hire, Fire and Protect your People, and secure Electronic Data and Confidential Information Assets


Through this presentation, employers will be better equipped to implement best practices and policies in order to hire and retain the most talented employees, and prevent data breaches. We will discuss how best to conduct background checks, the do’s and don’ts of conducting interviews, managing employee discipline and leave accommodations. We will also address how best to promote a diverse and inclusive work culture with managers leading by example. Supplier and General Track: How to Engage your local LGBT Communities for Greater Diversity                  
This presentation is designed to demonstrate how local chapters can make their already diverse membership even more diverse by identifying and engaging the local ethnic minority communities. Host will identify external organizations and opportunities to engage the otherwise difficult to reach ethnic minority LGBT community. Rightly or wrongly, in some markets the Chamber chapters may be perceived as predominantly gay white men. This presentation offers some ideas and opportunities for outreach to potential new membership from local ethnic communities. The session will also include steps for engagement, and a produced video of case study as NGLCCNY engaged the local LGBT Asian community.

Do you hate doing your annual budget?  Do you dismiss the process and “just get it done” every year because your bylaws require you to do so?  Are you confused as to how you build an effective budget and why you should even should do it?  
The budget process is one of the most powerful things that you can do as a chamber leader.  Yet it is often shrouded in mystery and consequently dismissed as something that the Board of Directors “has to do” as part of its obligations.  Yet there is much power locked within the budget and the budgeting process.  
This workshop is designed to help you, the chamber leader, understand the significance of the budgeting process and how to use your budget to unlock the growth and success of your chamber.

General Track: Traveling While Trans: Authentic Self in Travel presented by American Airlines                  
Under the best of circumstances, flying can cause anxiety, frustration, and confusion for even the hardiest of travelers.  For transgender and non-binary passengers, every journey can be full of very real concerns.  What happens the name, gender, or appearance on a legal ID used for travel don’t match a person’s presentation?  What is current TSA training for transgender travelers?  How can airline customer-facing employees avoid making common and potentially damaging situations?  This workshop will combine real-world travel situations overlaid with a general Trans 101 session focused on key elements of the journey that highlight the every-day risks and challenges that many transpeople face on a day-to-day basis

This session by a pair of industry experts will provide attendees with high-level ideas and recommendations for every business when it comes to branding, marketing, PR and public affairs. We will discuss specific examples and case studies of well-functioning corporate PR and marketing functions, including the Latino Connection’s health and wellness pilot program with Aetna, which already has generated a total marketing impressions value of $56 million dollars for a $1M dollar investment. Corporate Track: The Intersection of Personal Brand + Role and Importance of LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Groups
The session will center around two important things:
First, the importance of ERGs to fight against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity within the workspace; as well as how the panelists are able to practically advocate for corporate policy changes, create community, and push their working environments to be more inclusive. As an active participant in your corporation’s Employee Resource Group/Business Resource Group, you have the ability to set the tone for what you stand for and what you believe in. Knowing your personal brand value and how it intersects with the mission and vision of your employee resource group is vital for your future advancement. 
Secondly, we will cover how you begin to define your personal brand and use it to advance your career, while being a strong advocate for the employee resource group for which you belong. You will leave this session with tips and resources, and a clearer understanding of your personal brand’s value.

Global Track: Holistic Trans-Inclusive Practices: Global Policy, Self-ID, Building Allyship - Oh My!                                                                                                               
Many organizations have committed to improving resources for trans & gender non-confirming employees, however, most implement policy and practices with little thought to a holistic process or global applicability. This session will overview the elements of two company’s holistic efforts (EY & State Street) and highlight lessons learned in the process. Attendees will gain information about implementing: Global trans-inclusive policy, Self-ID processes, Company-wide pronoun processes, Name Changes, Transition Health Benefits, Allyship Education, Leveraging Executive buy-in, and utilizing employee narratives to cascade culture of belonging. Each organization may have a unique path to producing their own set of practices, and this session will emphasize that there is not a “one size fits all” approach to arriving at a place where all employees can feel confident in the systems and supports in place.

Do you want to learn how to collect demographic data about your organization’s LGBTQ stakeholders? If so, join fellow business leaders and learn more about the role you can play to ensure that your business measures what matters by including LGBTQ people in your diversity, equity, and inclusion commitments, your marketing efforts, your supplier diversity metrics, and more. During this session, you will have the opportunity to learn about sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression (SOGIE) demographic questions, why they matter to your organization, and how you can begin responsibly collecting this information to build more inclusive workplaces.
