(January 15, 2010) Washington, DC- Today the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce announced that it is launching two additional LGBT certification committees to handle the growing number of LGBT owned businesses seeking certification as a part of the NGLCC’s Supplier Diversity Initiative. The committees in Los Angeles, Ca and Dallas, TX are a geographic departure from the National Certification Committee in Washington, DC and the New York Certification Committee in New York City.

“LGBT businesses are all over the country and it has always been a part of our strategy to have a certification in each of the NGLCC’s five regions,” said Jeremy Fegley, manager for supplier diversity and certification specialist at the NGLCC. “Launching these two new committees in the first quarter of 2010 will help us do just that.” The NGLCC has divided the country into five regions, including the Pacific, Mountain and Southwest, Midwest, Mid Atlantic North East, and the Southeast. This announcement will add committees to the Pacific region and Mountain and Southwest.

Businesses that are at least 51 percent owned, operated and controlled by an LGBT person or persons, from anywhere in the United States, are eligible for certification. Businesses currently seeking certification are certified through an existing committee, regardless of what region they reside. However, by expanding the number of committees and the regional diversity, the NGLCC believes it will help share the benefits of certification as an LGBT Business Enterprise™ (LGBTBE) with a broader and more engaged audience.

The NGLCC also announced plans for launching two additional certification committees by the end of 2010, one in each of the remaining two regions -- the Midwest and Southeast.
