Cheryl A. Harris
Senior Vice President of Sourcing & Procurement Solutions, Allstate Insurance Company
Cheryl A. Harris, C.P.M. is senior vice president of Sourcing & Procurement Solutions (SPS) at Allstate Insurance Company. Cheryl provides strategic oversight of Allstate's $5 billion supplier spend portfolio with a keen eye on value optimization (obtaining the right goods/services, at the right price, at appropriate quality/service level, and from the best suppliers). Since joining Allstate she has transformed procurement from a group of individuals delivering contracting activities to a team of procurement professionals delivering end-to-end procurement solutions in a trusted and valued way. Under Cheryl’s leadership, SPS developed an enterprise-wide Supplier Management program. In partnership with our Information Security team, this program ensures that we have industry-tested processes and resources to manage suppliers who have access to Allstate and customer data. All of this work and her collaborative style have delivered a reduction in supply chain risks, increased P&L run rate savings, increased innovation and improved our third-party relationships. Cheryl also champions Allstate's Supplier Diversity program, increasing opportunities for minority-, LGBT-, veteran- and women-owned businesses and developing these businesses through a diverse supplier mentoring program.
Prior to joining Allstate, Cheryl served as the Americas Procurement delivery senior executive for 12 years at Accenture LLP. In her most recent role, she led teams across the United States, Canada, Brazil and Argentina and helped to establish onshore and offshore procurement business processing capabilities (in San Antonio and Bangalore specifically). Cheryl managed $10 billion in addressable spend, delivering in excess of $200 million in run rate savings and cost avoidance per year for her clients. She also expanded supplier diversity across Accenture's global organization, channeling more than 16 percent of U.S. spend to minority-, LGBT- and women-owned businesses.
Cheryl is a Florida A&M University (FAMU) graduate and serves as the senior executive sponsor for Allstate's relationship with the university, as well as Chair for FAMU’s Business Industry Cluster – an organization that leverages corporate partnerships for curriculum development, recruiting and sponsored research.
Committed to supporting underserved youth and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), Cheryl is the proud spokesperson for Allstate's Quotes for Education program which has raised more than $500 thousand for scholarships. Cheryl’s Board of Directors positions on the Chicago Humanities Festival (CHF), Teen Living Programs (TLP), FAMU Foundation, and National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) allow her to impact underserved and high potential members of local communities throughout the country.
Allstate has also been recognized by the NGLCC and the Women’s Business Entrepreneur Networking Council (WBENC) for SPS’ robust expansion of our supplier diversity program. Diverse businesses account for 8.5 percent of Allstate’s total spend, outpacing our industry peers.
Cheryl has been recognized as a Leader of Color by Chicago United and was recently inducted into the Executive Leadership Council, the nation’s leading organization supporting African American CEO’s and Corporate Board Directors. Cheryl, her husband Brian and their 3 children (+2 nephews) live in Long Grove, IL.
