Global LGBTI Business Week 2017

NGLCC Global LGBTI Business Week, created by the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce in partnership with leaders & organizations committed to expanding global LGBTI economic opportunity, will be the second annual summit to converge global leaders, economic development and human rights experts, governments, and the private sector to cultivate a more socially and economically inclusive world.
This dynamic, multi-day series of events will focus on sharing new thought leadership and existing best practices for global LGBTI economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and development. In this, it will highlight innovative and cutting-edge technological solutions to promote entrepreneurship, showcase a dynamic partnership that seeks to fill the evidence-base on LGBTI economic development, and share expertise on using businesses as agents of change. The week culminates in NGLCC's annual National Dinner, which celebrates the achievement of NGLCC's partners and business enterprises.
Premier events will take place in Washington, DC from November 14th to 17th in partnership with the government of Uruguay, along with a variety of regional and international organizations including the Organization of American States (OAS) LGBTI Core Group, the OAS Department of Social Inclusion, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) LGBTI Rapporteurship, the United Nations Office Of High Commissioner on Human Rights, the Business Council of the United Nations, and the United Nations Foundation. NGLCC will host high-level panel discussions and innovative activities throughout the week, culminating in the 2017 NGLCC National Dinner Awards Gala on Friday, November 17. Generating the Evidence-Base This event will kick-off the newly created partnership between NGLCC Global, the Organization of American States (OAS) LGBTI Core Group, the OAS Department of Social Inclusion, and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) LGBTI Rapporteurship. The partnership is built on the development of analytical work in the Latin American and Caribbean context to measure the rights and inclusion of LGBTI people and their impact on economic development and the private sector. |

Businesses as Agents of Change Helping LGBTI people convert economic opportunities into powerful equity in the national economy is the catalyst needed to make them true agents of change. Panelists will speak about ways in which companies can combat discrimination against LGBTI people, provide support to their LGBTI employees and local communities, how they can work with NGLCC Global Chambers of Commerce to meet these goals, and discuss how corporations can be advocates while working within environments hostile to LGBTI people. |
