Barton Jackson Named New Executive Director of NGLCCNY

New York, NY – October 16, 2024 – The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) is excited to announce the appointment of Barton Jackson as the new Executive Director of NGLCC New York (nglccNY). Jackson brings a wealth of experience as a distinguished leader in both the LGBTQ+ community and financial services sector. His commitment to advancing diverse marketplaces and empowering LGBTQ+ businesses will strengthen nglccNY’s role in fostering economic opportunity for the community across New York State.

Jackson has spent over a decade at TD Bank as Relationship Manager in the Regional Commercial Manhattan Bank and co-chaired Metro New York Forever Proud, the bank’s LGBTQ2+ business resource group. Notably, he developed the groundbreaking TGX entrepreneurial program “Own It,” in partnership with nglccNY and Destination Tomorrow, aimed at empowering transgender and gender non-conforming entrepreneurs. Jackson’s extensive background also includes his leadership on the Metro New York Regional Diversity Council, development of LGBTQ+ community programming, and his dedication to mentorship and coaching. He has also volunteered with nglccNY for the last 8 years as an active member of the Ambassadors Committee and LGBTBE certification site visitor, among other things.

“Barton’s unwavering leadership and relentless dedication to economic empowerment, combined with his tireless commitment to creating equal opportunities for LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, make him the perfect choice for this critical role,” said Justin Nelson, Co-Founder & President of NGLCC. “His track record of developing innovative programs, such as TD Bank’s ‘Own It’ initiative, demonstrates his unwavering commitment to elevating LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs and building pathways for diverse communities to thrive. We are thrilled to welcome him to nglccNY, where his vision will continue to uplift our members and expand our reach in the vibrant New York market.”

In his new role, Jackson will leverage his expertise in relationship management, stakeholder engagement, and cultural competency to deepen partnerships with local businesses, government, and corporate sponsors. His technical skills in campaign development, project management, and economic empowerment programming will further strengthen nglccNY’s strategic initiatives.

“I am honored to step into this position and build on the impactful work nglccNY has done to create opportunities for LGBTQ+ businesses in New York,” said Jackson. “As a long-time advocate for diverse communities, I look forward to fostering an inclusive business environment that helps our members grow and succeed.”

Jackson has been recognized for his contributions to the community, including being named one of Crain’s New York’s 2023 LGBTQIA Notables, a recipient of the 2020 Impact Award from Gay City News, and a 40 LGBT Leaders Under 40 honoree by Business Equality Network.

Barton Jackson will assume his role as Executive Director on November 1, 2024.
