Washington, DC—The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), the business voice of the LGBT community, is proud to announce NGLCC Global LGBTI Business Week in Washington, DC, November 14-17, 2017. Hosted by NGLCC in partnership with leaders and organizations committed to expanding global LGBTI economic opportunities, it will be the second annual summit to bring together global leaders, economic development and human rights experts, governments, and the private sector to cultivate a more socially and economically inclusive world.

This dynamic, multi-day series of events will focus on sharing new thought leadership and existing best practices for global LGBTI economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and development. In this, it will highlight innovative and cutting-edge technological solutions to promote entrepreneurship, showcase a dynamic partnership that seeks to fill the evidence-base on LGBTI economic development, and share expertise on using businesses as agents of change.

“NGLCC Global LGBTI Business Week speaks to the heart of the mission of NGLCC Global: to build an inclusive global economy in which LGBTI entrepreneurs and their allied business partners are free to trade, develop, and succeed. Governments, multinational corporations, and small business each play a role in the critical connection between LGBTI human rights and economic development,” said NGLCC Co-Founder & President Justin Nelson. “As nations move toward greater inclusion and opportunity, the result is a proven boost in a national economic output. We’re so pleased to present the second year of this annual week of celebration and education focusing on sustainable equity and economic strength for the global LGBTI community. Together with our global partners, we will ensure our community thrives on every continent.”

Presenting partners for this historic week include the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) of the United States, as well as the OAS Department of Social Inclusion, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) LGBTI Rapporteurship, the Embassy of the República Oriental del Uruguay, the United Nations Office Of High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Business Council for the United Nations, and the United Nations Foundation.

The findings of the week will be presented at the NGLCC National Dinner in Washington, DC, to highlight the ever-growing contributions of the LGBTI community and its global allies to create jobs, grow economies, and dramatically improve perceptions about LGBTI people in their countries.
