New Jersey Assembly Committee Approves NGLCC Championed Bill to Include Certified LGBT, Disability, and Veteran Owned Businesses in State Contracting

On Monday, February 13th, the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce provided expert testimony at the New Jersey State House in Trenton in support of A-3891, a bill to welcome certified LGBT, disability, and veteran owned businesses in New Jersey state contracting and procurement opportunities. The bill was approved by the Human Services Committee by a nearly unanimous vote and was applauded for providing a pro-business context for expanding equal opportunity throughout the state.

NGLCC Hosts LGBT Caucus Celebration at DNC in Philly

On July 28th, the final day of the Democratic National Convention, NGLCC, in partnership with the DNC LGBT Caucus, hosted a star-studded celebration in honor of the historic Democratic nominee for President of the United States and the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and the Democratic National Committee to include certified LGBT-owned businesses as suppliers for the 2016 Democratic National Convention. The DNC has fundamentally raised the visibility of, and opportunities for, our community's leaders and voices.

Diversity Fulfillment Services: Success Following AB1678

In September 2014, NGLCC helped pass AB1678, which opened up many opportunities for certified LGBT Business Enterprises (LGBTBEs). The law mandates that utilities companies doing business in the state of California report the amount of diverse spend they have with LGBTBEs. Enrollment Season is Here: LGBT Small Businesses Get Covered under Health Reform

It’s open enrollment season once again – and that means that employers and employees all across the country are considering their new health insurance options! Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, there are many new options available, particularly for small businesses and their employees.  Small employers can provide health insurance through the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) and may be eligible for a tax credit towards the cost of premiums.
