NGLCC Seeks Volunteers for National Certification Committee

Each month, a group of dedicated volunteers gathers at the NGLCC headquarters to review the applications of hopeful Certified LGBT Business Enterprise® (Certified LGBTBE®) suppliers.  Are you interested in learning more about our certification process, and helping us expand the NGLCC business community? We have the perfect opportunity for you!

The National Certification Committee of the NGLCC’s Supplier Diversity Initiative is a third party committee comprised of Certified LGBTBE® suppliers, corporate partners and representatives from their Employee Resource Groups, and allies from various sister organizations. We are looking for a few good volunteers who want to join this committee.

One of these volunteers is Nancy Wigal, owner of Search Engine Academy Washington DC, who joined the committee in 2013.

“It’s my way of giving back to the LGBT community, to make sure that deserving gay-owned and -operated businesses are given an opportunity to offer their products and services to support corporations that need small business goods and services,” said Wigal. “This is a chance for these folks to grow their businesses beyond what they may imagine…by fulfilling diversity supplier requirements.”

The committee can also provide professional development and learning opportunities.

“I’ve learned more about financials, incorporation language, and analysis of business plans by participating in the National Certification Committee meetings,” explained Wigal. “It’s inspiring for me to see so many successful LGBT business owners get certified by the NGLCC.”

By participating in the National Certification Committee, you are helping small business owners gain access to NGLCC’s resources more quickly and ensuring the vitality of the Supplier Diversity Initiative. Volunteers are valued and important part of our trusted certification process.

If you or representatives at your company are interested in volunteering or learning more, please complete this application and send to Brent Stewart, Account Manager, Supplier Diversity & Compliance at supplierdiversity@nglcc.org. If you have questions or concerns, contact Brent at 1-202-234-9181.
