NGLCC Names Central Pennsylvania Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce as 2013 Chamber of The Year

Washington, D.C. (07/18/2013) – The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) will be recognizing excellence in local chambers two weeks from today at the 2013 National Business & Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas. Top honors will be going to the Central Pennsylvania Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (CPGLCC), which won 2013 Chamber of the Year.

Each year, the Chamber of the Year is seen as a role model for other chambers and an example of what an LGBT chamber or business organization should be.

“CPGLCC has transformed tremendously over this past year,” said Justin Nelson, NGLCC Co-Founder and President. “President Deb McClain and her dedicated board have really continued their work to partner with major corporations,  develop educational programming, and promote national LGBT business certification. The dedication of their team never fails to impress us.”

The Rising Star Award is given to a  chamber that has exhibited a steep trajectory of growth, new vitality and relevance in its community, brought a unified voice to the local LGBT business community it serves, and proven its commitment to being part of the broader national movement. This year, NGLCC honored Austin Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (AGLCC), the regional chamber for central Texas.

“The NGLCC is proud to recognize the AGLCC with the 2013 Rising Star Award,” said Chance Mitchell, NGLCC Co-Founder and CEO. “AGLCC has truly proven itself as a revitalized LGBT chamber through its dedication towards improving membership visibility and high levels of civic engagement.”

In addition to naming the best NGLCC affiliated LGBT business organizations in the nation, the NGLCC recognized chambers for innovative leadership programming, expansive economic impact, and meaningful community services. NGLCC gave Chamber Excellence Awards, including:

Programming
Community Impact
Communications

“NGLCC affiliate chambers are having a powerful impact all around the country because they are leveraging every possible opportunity for businesses to grow and become strong engines that drive local economies,” said Sam McClure, NGLCC Director of Affiliate Relations. “These affiliate leaders are the backbone of the LGBT business movement, and I are so proud to work with them and recognize their achievements.”
