The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), the business voice of the LGBT community, is deeply saddened by the loss of Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente, Bernard J. Tyson. As a longtime NGLCC Corporate Partner, Kaiser Permanente has been deeply involved in our work to create an economy that fully includes and celebrates diversity at every level and from every community. Our mission to support LGBT business owners was bolstered by the top-down commitment we received from Mr. Tyson’s leadership at Kaiser Permanente.
We couldn’t agree more with the touching assessment of his life that was shared by his colleagues at KP: “An outstanding leader, visionary and champion for high-quality, affordable health care for all Americans, Bernard was a tireless advocate for Kaiser Permanente, our members and the communities we serve. Most importantly, Bernard was a devoted husband, father and friend. We all will miss his tremendous presence in our lives.”
All of us at NGLCC send our condolences to the Tyson family and the entire team at Kaiser Permanente. We will honor Bernard’s leadership by continuing to shape a healthcare industry, an American workforce, and a global supply chain that respects and welcomes diversity, as he always did.
